An ideal way to easily learn Somatic Techniques that can immediately be applied in your hands-on practice.
Somatic Movement Techniques address how tension patterns become habitual. They work directly with the nervous system to redirect our ability to undo the habitual pattern and function with more ease and support. Understanding the power of Somatics within your own body will make it easy to educate your clients in how to self-correct parasitic habits. You will:
Characterize the difference between working with “the form” (restricted tissues) and “the function/HOW.” It is the faulty wiring in the nervous system leads to maintaining habitual, parasitic tension.
Demonstrate understanding of the basic principles of Somatic Education.
Know through experience in your own body one’s innate ability to self-correct tension patterns.
Teach a Somatic technique in a client setting
Integrate the teaching of Somatic self-care techniques into your hands-on practice
Coupling Somatics with hands-on work exponentially increases the effectiveness of our bodywork, because the client is given tools to recognize and maintain change and to create new and better habits. What you learn can be applied to yourself and to your clients.

Computer Setup and Items Needed:
This is a class that involves movement while lying down, and you also may wish to be seated for portions of the webinar. You will need a comfortable, padded place (mat/blanket/carpet) to lie down full length with room for your arms to be spread eagle.
Please have your computer placed in an area that you can see the screen in these different positions and such that the teacher can see you on the screen. Please make sure that you are NOT back-lit and difficult to see.
Please wear loose fitting clothing, suitable for movement, in layers for warmth or coolness.
Please also have a firm blanket to make into a roll (very important for movement work) and a snack if you wish.
There will be a portion of each day where everyone will learn how to teach a Somatic Movement Technique to a partner. Each participant will be paired and put into breakout rooms with their partner to practice. Your learning experience can be enhanced if you have a household member who happens to be around during the time we do these practice sessions. If you DO have a household member around, you can practice your Somatic Movement Technique on your household member while your breakout room buddy coaches. If you don't have a household member to practice on, then your breakout room buddy will be your practice person. These teaching segments will be about 30 minutes in length, 15 minutes for each partner. You do not need to have a household member to practice on, so if you don't have one, don't fret, your practice sessions will go well with your breakout room buddy.
