Explore the myofascial structures that contribute to a neutral, stable pelvis and a lumbar spine with length and spring. Deepen your understanding of the role of the iliopsoas and hip rotators in creating balance through the pelvic bowl. Working directly with the nervous system, Somatic MovementTechniques can give greater awareness of unnecessary holding in these deeper structures. We regain control over the postural distortions and compressions that have become unconscious habits. Discover how to find the balance and poise of upright posture for both you and your clients.
About This Class: Somatic Techniques address how pelvic patterns become habitual. They work directly with the nervous system to redirect our ability to undo the habitual pattern and function with more ease and support. Coupling Somatics with hands-on work exponentially increases the effectiveness of our bodywork, because the client is given tools to recognize and maintain change and to create new and better habits.
Learning experiences include:
Somatic techniques to balance the muscle tone around the pelvis and create a neutral pelvic bowl in relation to the spine and femoral heads
Anatomy review of the pelvic girdle (both intellectual and kinesthetic)
Applications of Somatic Movement techniques to basic pelvic patterns
Methods to integrate the teaching of Somatic self-care techniques into your hands-on practice
Practitioner body mechanics—learn to support the pelvis in a neutral position while table-side and find power behind your touch by using energy from the ground. Feel the difference in the effectiveness of your hands-on work when your strokes come from a stable and balanced pelvis
What you learn can be applied to yourself and to your clients.
